Real User Review:Name: D. Ryder Location: Illinois Review Summary : I hate this software. Review : I bought and installed the software in May, 2010. Immediately started noticing Internet Explorer locking up. The icing on the cake was the antimalware would stop working and the programs we were running on the computer at the same time freezing. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Vipre. Found that the virus definitions would not update. It then did something to block internet service on the computer that would only be resolved by uninstalling the program again. Had to go so far as a system restore only to find that Vipre had reappeared. Uninstalled it again. Hope it's gone for good. Can't get support from Sunbelt. Going back to Bitdefender. Never had any trouble with it. Don't think this product even rates half a star.
Name: Mathew A. Shember Location: Cupertino, CA United States Review Summary : Great package! Review : I had used their counterspy product and had been impressed with it. I had been meaning to try out vipre for awhile. The installer is small and it was easy to install the package. The deep scan was pretty quick. Didn't time it against AVG but I think it was faster and it found a couple things AVG missed. The basic package will take care of viral and malware problems. I will say the malware detector is far better then Symantec and McAfee(used both). There wasn't a way to centrally manage several installations but this is a home edition so that function is not needed as much as it would be in a corporate environment. The automation aspects are easy. As with most packages you can automate the downloads of new dictionaries and scans. Overall, this was an easy test and I am going to consider upgrading to the premium edition and get the firewall. -update- One thing I did run into is there really isn't a decent protection for browsers. I had a browser jacker which required another tool to kill it. Probably the firewall version deals with this?

Installation and configuration is user friendly and the software does not slow down your PC. It updates automatically and its scanning engine is superb. Firewall has option to let users train it, and it really takes care of potential threats with ease. This product has been developed from scratch and unlike other vendors who retool and repackage their product: Viper Antivirus Premium 4.0 delivers. If you want a total package to secure your PC, then I highly recommend this software. Its compatible with XP, Vista and System 7. Also, after installation I have not experienced any malfunctions, or false positives. I recently installed it on my mom's pc and it quickly found 1 trojan, and 2 worms and removed them! Sunbelt Software ([...]) has a winner with Viper Antivirus Premium 4.0!
