Real User Review:Name: Stewart Location: Review Summary : Good item at a good price Review : Norton, for some reason gets a bad rap as a memory hog or some claims it slows their computer. I've seen nothing of the sort. Some of the features, that aren't that unusual, is the fact that it will scan when the comp is idle and left on. When I have gone to some sites I'm immediately told of a possible virus and protected. Good value and no need to buy the more expensive "suites". This is fine and never caught any virus, malware, or anything detrimental. The only issue I'm having since purchase is that I must manually run live update as it doesn't do it on its own. Every couple days I check so just a minor peeve. Good value and only purchase the full product every couple of years just in case there is something "special" that may or may not be worth purchasing the CD compared to subscribing to the updates. I'm by no means a computer expert and just an old guy, but don't have any complaints. Price is right and does what it is supposed to. That's all I need + of course it's always detected a possible virus. If otherwise, I imagine I'd be having some type of computer problems but running fine.
Name: 2-stroke rider Location: Tucson, AZ, USA Review Summary : You're paying for a subscription, not a program Review : I've been a steady Norton user on our computers for more than 10 years, and many times NAV has intercepted or neatly cleaned up something nasty. Unfortunately like other software companies they have over time become increasingly grasping, and more annoying. Years ago you could renew your subscription for a modest amount. Then they raised the renewal price to equal or exceed the price of a new program. You could always continue to use the program though, even if your definitions were out of date. Now, they've taken away even that. When your subscription expires, so does the program. Actually it turns into nagware constantly demanding that you renew. So what you're really buying is a subscription, and nothing more. This is from the same company that doesn't let you turn off outbound email scanning for your own good ? What crap. This was a good product while it worked, but I'm tired of paying more and getting less with Norton and will NOT be "renewing" with them again.
Name: Einsteins Clone Location: Rocky Hill, CT United States Review Summary : Ruined my Machine Review : After my Kapersky software expired I decided to try Norton again. What a disaster. The whole machine froze. I had to remove the battery and pull the plug from the wall to switch the machine off. When I put it on again. Same Problem...Hardrive working at full capacity and machine frozen. I went into safe mode and then MSCONFIG and removed one item at a time. I even removed the FIREWALL. It made no difference. Then I removed Norton and the machine shot back to life. What a horrible experience and what a waste of money. I lost sleep as I thought my Hard Drive had crashed before I used MSCONFIG. I won't buy this product ever again. EVER.
